Asbestos Surveys

Here at AMS Asbestos Management Services, we carry out asbestos surveys for clients in order to ensure that they are complaint with the latest regulations issued by the Health and Safety Executive, following the guidance issued by them through HSG264 Asbestos: the survey guide.

Any asbestos survey we provide is clear and easy to understand. All our reports are available on our fully searchable, secure, internet based asbestos records management system. There’s no software licence to pay for this, so you can use the system to manage your asbestos in its entirety, covering asbestos statutory re-inspections, asbestos removal management, asbestos air testing and bulk analysis archiving.

Types of Asbestos Survey

Asbestos Management Surveys: An asbestos management survey is carried out on all non-domestic properties in order to allow the dutyholder to produce an Asbestos Management Plan. Such a plan is required by the HSE, helping to prevent accidental exposure to airborne asbestos fibres through general wear and tear. These asbestos containing materials (ACMs) should be inspected regularly by asbestos surveyors to ensure that they remain in good condition.

Pre-Refurbishment or Pre-Demolition Asbestos Surveys: These must be carried out before any maintenance tasks are started that could potentially disturb any ACMs that are hidden in the fabric of the building. Sometimes known as a fully intrusive survey, the survey team must make every effort to find all of the ACMs in either the location where the work will be carried out or, in the case of a pre-demolition scenario, all of the asbestos containing materials.

ACM Re-Inspections: Statutory re-inspections must be carried out to ensure that any well maintained ACMs have not become damaged. If such a material starts to release asbestos fibres, it could cause Mesothelioma (a type of deadly cancer) which kills 4,000 people every year.

AMS can carry out your re-inspections and update your asbestos management plan on your behalf. For more information about any of our asbestos surveys or any of our other services, please call our Customer Services Team on 01670 737355.
